I'm Going Etsy!

(my name on Etsy is thedrizzledapple)
Alright, so here is my newest little side project. These re-worked skirts have been a hit and I have been asked if I can make more. I have decided to take the advice of Chelsea and Lila and make a few extras and put them up for sale on Etsy.
I will post here when I have a new creation that is going up for sale. I use used jeans and sweaters, vintage lace, fabric and other great treasures I find.
All items will be one of a kind, re-worked skirts and sweaters, this means no 2 will ever be exactly alike!
However, if you see something that you wanted, or it wasn't in your size, let me know and I'll do my best to make one as close to it as I can for you!

Thanks for all the positive feedback friends!

I hope you will enjoy the clothes as much as I enjoy creating them!

JeAnS to SkiRT

Ok, so I have been busy with a new obsession. Making old jeans into a skirt. I've been wanting to do this for a while, since I have several pairs of jeans that just aren't working for me as jeans anymore. So I decided to try making something new. I love to tweak clothes and, in a sense, make them "mine". Here are the results....

This was actually my second skirt, I went to a thrift store and purchased a pair of jeans that I liked for around $7. This one had cute pink stitching on the pockets and was a good denim color. I love the raw edge and how it frays at the bottom.

The second skirt (actually my first attempt), I didn't love as a skirt as much. I cut it too short, and just wasn't crazy about the darker denim so then I thought.... hmmmmm I have all this fabric I won from
and the Botique Cafe give away (still thrilled to death I won!)... why not use some of my niece Chelsea's applique techniques from Pink Fig Patterns and see if I like it any better...
I cut out all my pieces and layed them out like this.....

Sewed it up like this....

....added a ruffle

(to make it a better length for me like it should have been from the get-go)

And now I LOVE IT!

Can't wait to wear it with some cute brown boots and a cream sweater top!

Thanks Ladies for all of your contributions to my skirt!

See you in Houston!

And the winner is......

I have to brag for a moment and tell you that I won a blog contest! I have this new favorite link made by some sassy-cool girls I met at Quilt Market called Boutique Cafe. They run random drawings etc. from time to time. I commented on a pod cast they did on Tina Givens and I won!!! (I never win). I've been waiting for this package and finally, it came!
This is what I got...

8 yds. of fabulous fabric from the Chloe's Imagination Collection by Tina Givens!
I got to choose from 5 different colorways and let me tell you, that was very difficult to do! Oberone Red is what I chose.
What made it even more special, was that it had this little card sent from Tina herself!

Here are some samples of my favorites from this collection....

You can read more about Tina in my earlier posts featuring Tina's marvelous booth in Portland, or check out her interview under the Boutique Cafe link below!

I am so excited to make some wonderful things with this beautiful fabric... I'll keep you posted on my creations! Thanks Boutique Cafe! and Thank you Tina Givens!
