International QuILt MaRkEt 2011!

These photo's are borrowed from my dear friend Daria at Botique Caffe because well, my camera is broken :C
So I will have to rely on others to give you a look at what was truly awesome at market this go around.
As usual, there was no shortage of talent and creativity at the show.  The work and countless hours of sleepless nights, sore backs and swollen feet paid off because I think it was an amazing market!
Here are some shots for you..... Enjoy!

Quilt Market 2009

Quilt Market Pittsburgh, 2009
Wow! I am still recovering from Quilt Market in Pittsburgh.
It's always a lot of fun, and a lot of work, but worth every minute!
I can't tell you how many times we drove over this mustard yellow bridge going back and forth from Ikea, Target, Pannera, and to the airport. Thing is, there are several that look just like it, why not paint each one a different color, then one might know if you were on the wrong bridge or not...... just a suggestion ;).
I'm curious, who picked this color anyhow?

I am sad to admit, that I didn't take may of my own pictures this time. So, thanks to all of you bloggers who are posting your own, I will be borrowing some of my favorites here to share with all my peep's (giving proper credit naturally! :) I'll be posting pictures as I collect them this next week. I hope you enjoy!

Here is my sister Lila's Booth in Santorini for Moda! It took 1st place for new exhibitors! She totally deserved it! After loosing her voice completely on the plane ride to Pittsburgh, she managed to pull off market with style! Stella (the lovely and talented mannequin) we feel, was a big hit! Lila made her from scratch! That was a lot of work, but it showed off her talent to be unique and think out of the box ;)

Lila and Marinda

This is Patty Young who designs for Michael Miller and my niece Chelsea of Pink Fig Patterns. Two creative ladies! I adore them both!

Patty's new fabric line is called Mezzanine

Patty and her husband Jon who built this booth,

(nice work Jon!).

I shall have more to come... but it's 2am and I need to get to sleep!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

JeAnS to SkiRT

Ok, so I have been busy with a new obsession. Making old jeans into a skirt. I've been wanting to do this for a while, since I have several pairs of jeans that just aren't working for me as jeans anymore. So I decided to try making something new. I love to tweak clothes and, in a sense, make them "mine". Here are the results....

This was actually my second skirt, I went to a thrift store and purchased a pair of jeans that I liked for around $7. This one had cute pink stitching on the pockets and was a good denim color. I love the raw edge and how it frays at the bottom.

The second skirt (actually my first attempt), I didn't love as a skirt as much. I cut it too short, and just wasn't crazy about the darker denim so then I thought.... hmmmmm I have all this fabric I won from
and the Botique Cafe give away (still thrilled to death I won!)... why not use some of my niece Chelsea's applique techniques from Pink Fig Patterns and see if I like it any better...
I cut out all my pieces and layed them out like this.....

Sewed it up like this....

....added a ruffle

(to make it a better length for me like it should have been from the get-go)

And now I LOVE IT!

Can't wait to wear it with some cute brown boots and a cream sweater top!

Thanks Ladies for all of your contributions to my skirt!

See you in Houston!
